New book by Dr Karen O’Donnell, Survival: Radical Spiritual Practices for Trauma Survivors

Dr Karen O’Donnell, Academic Dean at Westcott House, has published a new book Survival: Radical Spiritual Practices for Trauma Survivors.

What does trauma theology really mean for trauma survivors? Trauma upends what has been theologically taken for granted and requires a radical rethinking of theological truth. Is unforgiveness really bad for us? Is it sinful to be angry? What might it look like for the trauma survivor to turn to God in the midst of their trauma? Radical, challenging, and life-giving, this book navigates these upended theologies and seeks the presence of God in the middle of trauma. Survival takes Karen’s decade of research in the field of trauma theology, today a rapidly growing field, and offers, from all that work, a set of theologically, scripturally, and spiritually grounded practices that might help trauma survivors in the daunting task of remaking themselves after trauma.

Survival is available to order from SCM Press (or by scanning the above QR) and Amazon.
