Appointment of Director of Practical Theology and Mission
The Acting Principal, Rt Revd Tim Stevens CBE, said: ‘I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Julian Gotobed as Director of Practical Theology at Westcott House.
Julian comes to us as Senior Lecturer in the University of Roehampton and an Accredited Minister in the Baptist Union of Great Britain. He has studied Practical Theology in the United States and in Oxford. He has a long record in Post Graduate teaching and Doctoral supervision in a range of practical theology subjects.
Julian also has a great deal of experience as a Minister in the Baptist Union in London and as an Ecumenical Minister at St Mary’s Parish Church in Stoke Newington.
He comes to Westcott House at a time when we seek to strengthen the resources available to us in teaching Contextual Theology and in the Life and Service Programme. His work will lie at the heart of the essential development of the skills of translating academic theology into the lived experience of the churches public ministry.
It will be a great privilege to welcome Julian and his family to Westcott House in September and we look forward to the vital contribution that he will make.’
Julian said: ‘I am delighted to be joining Westcott House at an important moment in its development as a centre for theological studies and ministerial formation. Westcott has a remarkable inheritance of spirituality and scholarship in the service of Jesus Christ. Equally impressive is its ability to think creatively in response to the immediate and unfolding challenges of the twenty-first century. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues at Westcott and across the Cambridge Theological Federation in the task of equipping men and women for ministry and mission.’
